New Spring Purchases

TOPSHOP vest, pants, & maxi dress BRANDY MELVILLE sweater & knit bra

I've been doing some shopping lately and these are my recent purchases! First of all I have to brag about my deal steal on the vest... Originally it was $100...and it was on sale for $30. THIRY BUCKS PEOPLE!!!! I was so beyond happy because I had been searching for a black leather vest and then I found one for an amazing price, it was meant to be. Also I love the floral pants so perfect for spring and print pants are so trendy now. I wanted to have a little more casual pieces in my wardrobe so I bought the sweater (which is beyond comfy) and the knit bra, which I can't wait to wear with high waisted shorts and my maxi skirt. As for the maxi dress I plan to wear it with my vest for my second interview tomorrow so I'll be taking pics of my outfit tomorrow.

Inspiration Tuesday

20130423

These photos pretty much come from Tumblr but the first 4 photos are from howtwolive.com and the next 3 photos are from gypsyone.tumblr.com which also happen to be my FAV accounts on instagram!! The two sisters have the most amazing sense of style I've ever seen. Their eye for mixing and matching clothing is phenomenal and definitely an inspiration. I like how their style is so different from what we typically see from girls on fashion blogs, that's exactly what makes them stand out. The girl with the tattoos is just so gorgeous, I literally drool at all her photos on instagram. I would kill for her body and I look at her photos as a motivation for myself, to get me working on my body and hopefully have a killer bod like her! (Well, minus the boobs..) The rest of the photos are from Tumblr and I can't describe exactly what it is about them, but something makes me really like them. Please check out my Tumblr page for more inspiring photos and check out the sisters' and the girl's website/instagram page!

Interview outfit #2

20130422

TALULA blouse VINTAGE GAP sweater vest HUDSON jeans JEFFREY CAMPBELL boots ZARA necklace MARC JACOBS purse

Today I had another interview for a clothing store (which again I will keep the name of the store a secret so I don't jinx myself!) and this was my outfit. I guess you could say I'm a little obsessed with layering tops with collar blouses and my leather jacket... But, I think this is the perfect outfit for an interview since it's professional looking but still very stylish. Also, I'd say it's unique I don't think most girls would dress like this which means I stood out in my interview which is always a good thing!

I know this is only my second job interview EVER, but here are some tips on how to prepare for an interview:
-Dress to impress. Seriously. Especially if you're going for an interview at a popular clothing store you have got to look your best and show that you know a thing or two about fashion. If you show up looking like a slob, chances are you won't be hired (I'm assuming!)
-Relax!! I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous for both my interviews but that's completely normal. Just make sure that once you walk into that interview room, you turn on your confidence and just be yourself. If you get really bad nerves find somewhere you can be alone, do a few breathing techniques, meditate, or do whatever you can to calm yourself down! If you can't form sentences because you're so nervous, that won't reflect well on your communication skills.
-Come on time and prepared. There is nothing that can make you look worse then arriving late and not having your resume ready or coming in flustered. I can probably guarantee you won't get the job if you arrive late, unless you're super lucky!
-Do your homework. Before you go into your interview make sure you research about the store or company you're going for an interview for. Make sure you familiarize yourself with all the brands the store carries, and as well know their current trends. These are questions you might be asked, and if not it's always good to know especially if you do end up getting a job there.

Those are just some of the things I've learned from my process of interviews but like I said, I've only been on 2 interviews so I still have so much more to learn! Please keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Interview outfit #1

20130421

TOPSHOP blouse VINTAGE denim top FOREVER 21 jacket TOPSHOP jeans BROWNS boots ZARA necklace ALDO knuckle rings MARC JACOBS purse URBAN OUTFITTERS nailpolish

Today I had my first interview for retail! I've never had a job before, (unless you consider acting a job, which I suppose it is! Although, not a very stable one...) and I was so nervous but really excited. This was the outfit I put together for my very first interview. I wanted to stand out but not be flashy or exposing, so I layered my mom's vintage denim top underneath my Toshop blouse. I threw on my Zara necklace over top just to complete the look, and I think I stood out in a unique way. As for the interview, I think I did a really good job considering it was my first official interview and I'm so proud of myself! I don't want to say where I went just so I don't jinx myself, but once I get a job I'll make sure to tell you guys where! I've got an interview tomorrow for another store so keep your fingers crossed for me! Can't wait to show you guys the outfit. Stay tuned...

Photoshoot with Sukhraj Bhattal for Vanstyle

FIRST LOOK: AMERICAN APPAREL top BRANDY MELVILLE maxi skirt EVERNEW necklace TOPSHOP wedges TOWN SHOES clutch
SECOND LOOK: TALULA BABATON blazer EVERNEW blouse MANGO high-waisted shorts ZARA heels&necklace

This is the final shoot from the Vanstyle Spring 2013 Lookbook Shoot! Both these looks were shot with Sukhraj Bhattal. I have done a shoot with Sukhraj before and I was so happy with the results the first time I knew the photos would turn out great this time as well... And they did! The first shoot was a more edgier look especially with the monochrome vibe, which is on trend for this spring. The second shoot was a more classier, business-type look. I loved the cherry-blossom trees in the background, made the photos so much more prettier and spring-like.

So I have posted all the photos from the shoot I had with Vanstyle. I loved the shoot it was a lot of fun, great people, great vibe, great energy, and I'll probably be working with them again very soon! Please make sure to check out the Vanstyle Facebook and Instagram page, as well Sukrhraj's Facebook page and like/follow all of them!! Also, I would love to hear your thoughts on the outfits and the photos, and if you guys have any suggestions for future shoots. Thanks guys xo
